FrazzledHow to Keep Track!

To keep track of specifically major appliance paper work can be daunting. Many options are available. I have seen many ideas online, in posts and in books. After many tries to organize, still not being able to find those specific receipts, warranties or manuals, I finally asked my dad! Why I never thought to ask him before, I have no idea. He said, “O that is an easy answer.” Really? After I have tried to figure out what to do with them. It seemed that he was always asking me for the manual when he came to help with a repair or to advise us on what we should do when there is an issue. I could never find the manual right away. O by the way, I do consider myself pretty organized too. So one day while he was installing a new water heater for us, I asked him again to please spill where I should store that water heater paper work. Awe!!! He grabbed a big manila envelope and stuck the paper work inside.  Then he grabbed the duct tape stuck it right on the water heater in the back. Well that was a duh moment!

Storing Paperwork

So guess what? I went straight the kitchen and gathered my refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, coffee pot, mixer, blender, microwave, chopper, under counter radio and garbage disposal paper work. Now there is an envelope for each one. Most of those envelopes are taped on the inside of the cabinet door nearest the appliance. I tried to write the date of purchase on the outside of each envelope as well as the appliance name. These envelopes have come in so handy over the years. When I need to grab that paper work for a repair or to figure out how to work something, the envelope is near by with everything I need.

Keeping-Track

I did the same idea in my other rooms with electronics and appliances. Even in the bathroom when we replaced the faucet I store that paper work nearby in a cabinet in an envelope.

So here is what I needed to store paperwork:

  • Envelope – size is dependent on the paperwork and always be sure to register the product.
  • Tape – type depends on the appliance
  • Pen or Marker to write the date and item name.
  • Location to tape the envelope

That is it that simple!

It is the little things that unravel the frazzle in life. How do you store you major receipts, warranties and manuals?
