As a young adult having grown up in church, I’ve heard it since before I can remember. “The signs are here.” “The Lord is coming soon.” Well, a certain sickness seems to have stirred up fear and more studies about His coming. What about today?

Here’s the thing, I’m now a young woman in my 20’s with a good marriage, beautiful daughter, and a lot of life ahead. Goals that haven’t been accomplished, children that are still being raised, ministries that are still growing. I know I’m not the only one looking for encouragement about the future.

The older generations are ready to see loved ones that have passed and meet Jesus soon and I can’t fault them for that. Jesus is coming again. This is not a new fact. But is this how we choose to spend “our last days”? Worrying, listening to the doom and fear that comes with the tribulation. If you have Jesus in your heart then we will not be here during that time…. what about today?

What about today?

You say the time is near
But I’ve heard all that before
You insight dread and fear
Just like the last generation swore
But that ain’t what I see
in this leather-bound book before me.
I see Jesus the author of peace.

What about today
all the memories we could make
What about today
All the hope we could create
Speaking the Word, tellin’ the truth,  livin’ like we have faith.
What about today.
What about today

I’m not sayin’ that your wrong
But why feed into all this noise
I know the hands of God are strong
Worry just isnt my choice
I find peace and hope
in the One who knows
Only He knows what the future will be

What about today
All the memories we could make
What about today
All the hope we could create
Speaking the Word, tellin’ the truth,  livin’ like we have faith.
What about today.
