About the Chisms
We are a homeschooling family of 6 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. We began home schooling our oldest when he was four years old. We are now in our 11th year of home schooling. This next year we have a 10th grader, a 7th grader, a 6th grader, and a 4th grader. We are using Bob Jones University Press Curriculum as our base. We use Rod and Staff English, Abeka, and other materials to supplement as we feel the need. For our kindergarten years, we used the original version of Alpha Omega's Horizons Curriculum. Unfortunately this is no longer available and the new version is not one we can recommend.
Mark is Project Management Professional (PMP) in the workforce. He does many speaking engagements all over the US in his profession. He enjoys his work. He is currently going back to college via online courses to get his degree. He does a full load of classes each semester. Who would have thought that one day dad would be homeschooling himself too. Mark is a wonderful husband on the homefront. He is the one that is working diligently on our website as time allows. Eujeana ("Sue" as some of you may know her) works as the AFES Director for the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross. She does emergency communication for military families to connect them with their serviceman during emergency situations back at home. Eujeana is also a Independent Home School Consultant. Finally, she works in the family industry which includes LOTS of laundry, a wonderful husband, 4 precious children, housecleaning, meals, home schooling, taxi service, nurse maid, and on goes the list.
We used to publish a home school newsletter called “REACH” but we found this to be very time consuming and costly. We have still written several articles over the years and plan to post them on our website rather than mail out as soon as time allows.
Our oldest son Nathaniel, age 15, is growing up on us and will be taking over some of the web site responsibilities soon. He will have his own page along with articles he has written over the passed few years. He is currently studying classical Guitar under Professor John Johns at Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. He has been study Classical Guitar for 6 years now. He is hoping to go far with the talent the Lord has given him. Nathan also enjoys working a soccer Referee each Spring and Fall.
Our son Aaron, age 12, has become an Amateur Radio Operator. His call sign is KI4IGH. He never meets a stranger and enjoys communicating over the radio. He is also studying Trumpet and Piano. He also loves to play goalie in soccer.
Our Daughter Ariel, age 11, enjoys playing the Harp for us. She is also an up and coming seamstress. She is currently taking sewing lessons and enjoying every class.
Our Daughter Leah, age 8, is studying piano and is anxious to begin studying the flute within the next year.
